2. General tips for Cannes Yachting Festival 2015

Cannes Yachting Festival is split over 2 locations – ‘Vieux Port’ and ‘Port Pierre Canto’:

Vieux Port: Presents avant-premières and new releases from international shipyards with in-water motor yachts and sailing yachts from 10-50 metres. A Superyacht Extension consisting of new walkways and barges is installed to accommodate the largest yachts. Smaller boats are displayed on shore along with exhibitors dedicated to design, equipment and services.

Port Pierre Canto: This location is a Yacht Brokerage and Yacht Charter space where you’ll find international yacht brokers will share their expertise as they present pre-owned yachts for sale or charter; half of them are 30 metres+ in length.

Yacht Buyers

The Cannes Yachting Festival is famous for its large yachts, but also hosts a variety of smaller sub-25 metre vessels that allow accessibility to the world of yachting. Most buyers will consult with experienced brokers who can advise the most suitable yacht for your needs. If you decide to venture into purchasing, some important considerations are:

  • What category of yacht you want – sailing yacht or motor yacht
  • Whether you want a new build or existing yacht
  • How you will use your yacht – relaxation, business, investment
  • Financial and legal aspects – financing your yacht purchase, tax implications, insurance, registration, build contracts and/or sale agreements
  • Is your yacht sea-worthy? Sea trials are crucial
  • Where you will keep your yacht – moorings and berths

Bespoke Yacht Charter recommend sourcing a trusted and knowledgeable yacht broker for in-depth professional guidance about buying a yacht.

5. Something Fancy

Bespoke Yacht Charter are skilled at going beyond expectations for luxury yacht charters; for on land options when you need the ‘best of the best’ in Cannes, our brokers suggest:

For premier accommodation you can’t beat Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes, one of the luxury hotels perched right on the Croisette. Saunter to their Spa Diane Barrière for some Clarins pampering before dining at one of their 4 restaurants including a lively Dinner Show at beachfront La Folie Douce. The Majestic is also the venue for the SO! Cannes yachting event on the evening of Thursday 10 September hosted by China Rendezvous that aims to bridge a gap between Asian and European yachting.

Located on boulevard d’Alsace on the far side of the Voie Rapide main road, Restaurant L’Antidote is away from the port action in Cannes but is worth a detour. Chef Christophe Ferré churns out plates of exceptional Provençal dishes in a petite maison with a pleasant terrace. Reservations recommended.
