Monaco Yacht Show 2015

Monaco Yacht Show is held annually at Port Hercules and this year’s show from 23–26 September 2015 will see a return to the Principality of the crème de la crème in the yachting industry.

Why attend the Monaco Yacht Show 2015

The 25th Monaco Yacht Show exhibits the extraordinary superyachts of the world’s best shipyards with the docks throbbing with yacht designers, mega yacht builders, luxury supply companies, brokerage houses and the general public. The Monaco Yacht Show 2015 has the privilege of benefiting from the patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and is expected to attract over 30,000 participants.

Who will be at the Monaco Yacht Show 2015

Monaco Yacht Show 2015 is THE nautical event for superyachts and megayachts, and therefore a major influencer in the luxury yacht sales and yacht charter industry so you can expect all the main brokerage and charter houses there.

Yacht designers, yacht services and equipment companies and buyers will mingle together on the quays around Port Hercules.

Expect more attendance from the Middle East’s super wealthy who bypass the Dubai International Boat Show (DBIS) to come to Monaco Yacht Show 2015 for the ‘big’ boats with more than half the ultra-high net worth individuals (UHNWIs) in the region likely to own or buy a superyacht (statistic: Arabian Business)

Also, expect to see lots of industry chat around Admiral X Force 145, the 465-foot mega yacht by the Italian Sea Group, and designed by Monaco-based Dobroserdov Design in collaboration with Admiral Centro Stile. Yet to be built, this mega yacht is for serious buyers only – crystal chandeliers, two helipads, gyms, indoor and outdoor pools, indoor garden, two cinemas, beach club and floor-to-ceiling glass windows doesn’t come cheap; estimates are floating around that the price tag will land well in excess of $1 billion.

Yacht Buyers : Ownership tips to consider

Any serious yacht buyer coming to Monaco Yacht Show 2015 would be using a yacht broker and other specialists such as maritime attorneys to provide advice on the best yacht for their needs.

A reputable yacht brokerage company is an invaluable source of knowledge about yachts, the current market and ownership considerations such as tax implications and registration.

As well as the list price, annual operating costs are huge and include maintenance, fuel, insurance, mooring and crew salaries – to demonstrate, Paul Allen’s ‘Octopus’ has 60 permanent crew on board.

If you choose to buy an existing superyacht you will require crew (often the existing crew who are familiar with the yacht), and if you decide on a new build you will need to reach out to Crew Recruitment Agencies to source crew.

Your buying decision should take into account where you will use the yacht (open seas? sheltered anchorages?) as this may influence your purchase based on the yacht design and performance handling at sea.

At Monaco Yacht Show 2015, there will be yachts that look similar visually but the price tags vary greatly. Interior finishing may use higher quality materials on different yachts and it’s important to also compare standard features to optional. Bypass the thrill of a yacht packed with shiny toys if it omits features that are essential for radio communication, important for safety or assist manoeuvring (like bow thrusters).
